Cracking the Code #1 - How to Layer Bracelets!

(Pictures all from Pinterest)

When I was thinking about what to blog about today, a thought popped up in my mind- "What would be the one thing you would teach someone about your own personal style"? That my friends, is what I am here to blog about today. Layering bracelets- seems simple, but you would not believe how it can frighten and overwhelm some people. It can become too mismatched or too crowded, but hopefully this post today will give you some resourceful tips! When you layer bracelets they become statement pieces. You could be wearing a regular pair of jeans and a white tshirt and immediately draw attention to your outfit by rocking some amazing arm candy. The fun thing about this is, you don't have to go out and buy a million different pieces of jewelry, you can mess around with what you have. So I'm going to stop rambling now with this introduction and get right into the how to! Check out more by clicking "read more". Enjoy!

Determine Your Bracelet Style:
In the visual above, I have noted some key factors and elements of some of the bracelet bundles.

Let's start with the first one- the watch. A lot of people automatically assume that they should not wear a watch when they're wearing tons of bracelets, or just wear their watch and no bracelets. That is not the case! Watches are a great thing to pair with bracelets, you just don't want to draw too much attention away from the watch, especially if it has a big face like the one pictured above. Michael Kors watches are a great example of these. Their faces are beautiful and with bands in shades of gold, rose-gold, and silver look amazing on their own, but for time to time it's ok to spice things up. I would pair no more than 4 bracelets with this. Options to consider: two solid color bracelets, one rhinestone bracelet, and a bracelet with a charm such as a cross, evil eye, or arrow.

Picture number two shows us our second element- gems. This can mean blingy jewels such as rhinestones or simple gems like a small amethyst, jade, etc. Typically when you're dealing with these, it's better to pair dainty and fragile bracelets with these. You do not want to wear too many chunky bracelets with these because they will draw the attention away from the jewels and gems, which are absolutely gorgeous on their own. Options to consider:  a bar bracelet, a thin chain bracelet something like a star or heart, and another gem bracelet of its kind or place in the color wheel.

Now let's move on to our third element- the "ombre effect". This is very common when layering bracelets, and is a great opportunity to mix all types of beads and jewels from wooden beads, fringe, glass beads, etc. Pictured here is a purple ombre effect. They also incorporated some silver accents in as well for an added touch. A great tip is to coordinate a metal if you're adding one, with the tones of the color you're working with. Golds would look better with pinks, and silvers might look better with blues. No matter what though, mix and match any combination you'd like! Options to consider: incorporating some of these- fringe, glass beads, seed beads, wooden beads, tassels, bangles, and gems.

Finally the last and fourth element we have here are "words and quotes". I love when people wear bracelets with words on them such as love, inspire, hope, dream, etc. Even one word speaks a message so meaningful and powerful. I also love when people can fit a quote onto the bracelet such as "keep aiming for the stars". When your wearing such beautiful and simple bracelets, don't overshadow them. Let the meaning of your bracelet be the center of attention. For these, stick the dainty and thin bracelets all the way! With possibly adding a wooden bead bracelet. Options to consider: hearts, arrows, stars, or initial charms on very thin chains, simple chains alone, seed needs, and simple earthy wooden bracelets.

**THE TOP 5 TIPS TO REMEMBER WHEN WEARING/LAYERING BRACELETS**:
1. Pick one statement piece and work around that, don't go overboard.
2. Coordinate your bracelets with a theme, like the ones we listed above. Make sure they have a reason and are not just thrown together!
3. Look for inspiration! Fashion blogs, Pinterest, Tumblr, etc. offer great ways to get inspired!
4. Avoid tons of noise making jewelry that can rattle and clink! Make sure you can work and do things in it such as write without it being too noisy!
5. Have FUN with it!

Obviously there are so many more amazing different types of bracelets in the visual such as friendship bracelets, huge stone bracelets, tribal-inspired bracelets, etc. However these are just a few of the quickest and neatest visual elements to go over! Keep in mind, these are just my suggestions and tips. Feel free to rock your bracelets any way you want to, mix and match, have fun, because your jewelry should tell all about you!
